The camera usually comes later. The conversation comes first.

Some of my favorite photographs began by putting the camera down.

Before I ask to make a portrait or tell someone's story, I try to understand who they are. Whether I'm spending time with a firefighter on the front lines of a wildfire, a horseman in the mountains of Guatemala, or a guide leading guests through the Alaskan wilderness, I've found the strongest stories begin with trust, curiosity, and a genuine interest in the people behind them.

That approach has shaped my work as both a photographer and filmmaker. Over the past decade I've documented stories in some of the world's most remarkable places, from remote deserts and mountain ranges to working ranches, luxury lodges, and communities rarely seen by outsiders. Some assignments last a few days. Others unfold over years. Regardless of the timeline, my goal remains the same: to create honest, immersive stories that reveal the connection between people and the places they call home.

My work has been commissioned by Netflix, BBC, PBS, The North Face, Adidas, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, the U.S. Forest Service, United Airlines, and many others. In 2019, I was honored to receive The North Face Explore Fund, supporting my continued documentary work in wild places.
